Hiking and Trekking in Province of Fermo

The landscape of the Province of Fermo is an amazing experience for the eyes of the tourists who visit the Marche. The hills that slope down to the sea leave behind the scenery of the Sibillini Mountains that, in the clearest days, you can even see from the beach.

The National Park of the Sibillini Mountains, offers many simple opportunities for hiking and trekking suitable for families, but also some more challenging routes, suitable for experienced hikers.

From the Gole dell’Infernaccio in Montefortino it is possible to reach the hermitage of San Leonardo through a pleasant wooded path. It is a two hour walking to go up and an hour and a half to go down, a path suitable also for families. From the Gole dell’Infernaccio you can also choose an alternative path and reach the mouth of the river Tenna.

Hiking is feasible also in the villages close to the mountain as in the case of the town of Montefalcone, a village perched on fossiliferous area that offers a wonderful view down to the sea. We reccommend you the “path of the Crest” where you may easily see a flying peregrine falcon.

If you prefer not to go on your own, you can always join the excursions organized by environmentalist and naturalist guides in the Province of Fermo. For any information or to get the excursion calendar contact us here.
